WP5

Management of project outputs

Objective: To develop operationally useful outputs from the project and organise their long-term accessibility to end-users.

Task 5.1: Synthesize the project questions, methods and results into a set of factsheets (INRAE, UCB, WEnR, EAWAG)

Questions, methods and results will be condensed into operational factsheets, translated into all partners’ languages, and will include references to more detailed findings (disseminated through academic publications). We envision three kinds of factsheet:

  • Practitioner’s support: Short factsheets (e.g. 2 pages each) on sector-specific perspectives on river restoration, presenting practical do’s and don’ts and lessons learned from the main results and summarised in an easy accessible format.
  • Context factsheets: synthesizing the influence pathways of large-scale to reach-scale drivers and pressures and of their interactions on restoration project outcomes.
  • Case-studies factsheets: presenting the experiences and lessons learned from the 200 case-studies included in the project, regarding their contemporary and historical spatial context, restoration aims, observed outcomes and critical review, with specific focus per ecoregion/country.

The stakeholders will be integrated into the project-internal review team for a synthesis article that will be written in English and translated into German, French and Dutch and will be published in relevant national trade journals for aquatic restoration practitioners (e.g. Korrespondenz Wasserwirtschaft or Hydrologie und Wasserbewirtschaftung / GER, Wasser Energie Luft / SWI, Comprendre pour agir / FRA, H20 or Water Matters or Landschap / NL).

Task 5.2: Build an on-line application to enhance stakeholder’s use (INRAE, UCB)

Based on the BBN model developed in WP2, we will build an on-line application allowing stakeholders to easily use this model. The BBN structure and results will be translated into a simplified shiny app. Users will be able to select a set of environmental variables and restoration measures to get an estimation of the potential synergies between societal and ecological outcomes of such a restoration project. A link to the set of related factsheets containing the pathways of influence will also be provided.

Task 5.3: Design a project website as a long-term storing solution for project outputs (INRAE)

A website (designed as a webdoc, in order to enhance interactivity) will be developed to present the entire project (aims, planned activities, consortium, etc.) with an effort put in the popularization of its content. The website will be regularly updated with main advances, result summaries, and links to the main publications, review studies and factsheets, as well as the on-line application (Task 5.2).
