Bio

Dr. Ralf Verdonschot is a senior researcher in aquatic ecology at the Wageningen Environmental Research institute of Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands. Key research fields are stream and wetland restoration and macroinvertebrate ecology.

In his opinion, successful aquatic ecosystem restoration starts with bringing together scientific research and the water management practice. He regards promoting this exchange an important aspect of his daily work.

In COSAR he is involved in WP1 and WP3, determining which indicators are relevant to define and quantify the success of restoration measures and unravelling the main mechanisms underlying restoration outcomes.
